Prohibited items policy
Seedsy exists to support legal, responsible seed trade. To protect members, our payment partners, and ecosystems, the following are prohibited on seedsy.org:
Never allowed anywhere on Seedsy
- Cannabis seeds — prohibited by our card payment processor; see the novelty exchange for separate crypto-only rules
- Invasive species and noxious weeds on federal or state lists
- Endangered/CITES-listed species without documented legal provenance
- Genetically modified (GMO) seed sold without clear disclosure and required permits
- Treated or coated seed misrepresented as untreated
- Falsified phytosanitary documentation or mislabeled origin
- Anything illegal to sell or ship in the buyer's or seller's jurisdiction
Restricted (allowed with conditions)
- Tobacco (Nicotiana spp.) — where legal; buyers must be of legal age
- Poppy (Papaver somniferum) — culinary/ornamental seed only, where legal; strictly no pods or latex products
- Quarantine pests & host plants — international sales must comply with import rules and include required certificates
How enforcement works
Every listing passes moderation before going live and is re-reviewed after edits. Reports from members are prioritized. Violations result in listing removal; repeated or egregious violations in account suspension and forfeiture of pending payouts tied to prohibited sales.
